We offer two methods of building canvas stretcher frames:
-
Slotted stretcher bars – supplied in pairs with machined corner slots for quick assembly and canvas re-tensioning.
- Stretcher profiles in lengths – supplied by the metre for workshops that prefer to cut and join their own stretcher frames or need to make bespoke sizes. You can also order them on our Chop + Rout service. If you order stretcher profile on our chop service we'll cut to the outside size of the frame. Unlike slotted stretcher bars, the corner joint are fixed after assembly and cannot be re-tensioned using wedges.
Our slotted stretcher bars are available in four profiles: 19mm x 35mm, 20mm x 44mm, 38mm x 35mm, 44mm x 44mm. Each profile is available in a range of sizes. Bars over 762mm (30") have slots in the centre of the inner edge for Brace Bars, with the exception of the 38mm x 25mm profile. Brace bars over 762mm (30") are notched to cross as the centre and sit flush. Brace bars help keep larger stretcher frames square and rigid.
Stretcher profile in lengths are available in six profiles: 20mm x 34mm, 18mm x 44mm, 24mm x 44mm, 38mm x 35mm, 44mm x 44mm, Two Way 28mm/44mm. In addition there is a 16mm x 45mm Brace Bar Profile, to be used with Brace Bar Brackets.
